On September 16, 2025 Jason and Kira Askea were arrested in Carroll County, Georgia, for abandoning their three toddlers at a campsite, where they were found starving, neglected, and covered in feces. The victims were a 2-year-old boy with Down syndrome, a 4-year-old, and a 5-year-old. The children were discovered after a concerned camper at Little Tallapoosa Park noticed them alone and alerted the police.
