Archaeology has uncovered what is believed to be the house of the Apostle Peter in the ancient town of Capernaum, on the northwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee in Israel. Excavations began in the 1960s, led by archaeologists Virgilio Corbo and Stanislao Loffreda of the Franciscan Order. Beneath layers of later structures, they discovered the remains of a 1st-century AD dwelling that had been transformed over time from a simple fisherman’s home into a place of Christian worship. The house featu
